Swimming lessons will be offered in the evenings this on Tuesday and Thursday nights May 7th - May 30th 7:15pm-8:45pm.

Little Bobbers

Age: 4 months - 2 years

fish with bubblesAn opportunity for parents to introduce their child to the water with instruction in blowing bubbles, kicking, reaching and pulling, using songs and games. Emphasis on parent/child interaction, acquainting the child with the water and having fun! Classes DO NOT waterproof Little Bobbers. Plastic pants mandatory if child is not potty-trained.

Tiny Tot Swim

Age: 2 - 4 years

This class is designed to familiarize the Tiny Tot with the water. Classes do not waterproof the Tiny Tots. Skills to be taught include getting the face wet, breath-holding, blowing bubbles, jumping in the water to the parent and floating. Tiny Tots must be accompanied in the water by an adult. Plastic pants mandatory if child is not potty-trained.

Group Lessons: Ages 4 to 6 Years

Must be at least 42" tall

Pollywogs - Introduction to basic skills which will lay the foundation for future skill development of swimming strokes. Certain milestones are necessary for successful completion of Level I, including: Entering the water independently using ladder, steps or side and travel at least 5 yards. Submerging mouth and blowing bubbles for at least 3 seconds. Exiting the water safely. Gliding on front for at least 2 body lengths. Rolling to back and floating for 3 seconds. Recovering to a vertical position with support.

Tadpoles - Skills include: Gliding on front at least 2 body lengths. Rolling to back, floating on back for 5 seconds then recovering to a vertical position. Gliding on back for at least 2 body lengths. Rolling to front, floating for 5 seconds then recovering to a vertical position. Swimming using combined arm and leg actions on front for 3 body lengths. Rolling to back, floating for 5 seconds, rolling to front then continuing to swim on front for 3 body lengths with support.

Frogs - Children will work on: Stepping from the side into chest-deep water. Moving into a front float for 5 seconds, rolling to back, floating for 5 seconds then recovering to a vertical position. Moving into a back float for 5 seconds, rolling to front then recovering to a vertical position. Pushing off and swimming using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths. Rolling to back, floating for 15 seconds, rolling to front then continuing to swim for 5 body lengths with support if needed.

Group Lessons: Ages 6 and Up

Minimum 42" tall or of adequate skill level

Sea Otters- Introduction to basic water skills as a foundation for future skills. Entering the water independently using ladder, steps or side. Gliding on front and back supported at least 2 body lengths. Rolling to a back float for 5 seconds with minimal support. Recovering to a vertical position with minimal support.

Octopus - Skills include Stepping from the side into chest-deep water. Moving into a front float for 5 seconds, rolling to back, floating for 5 seconds then recovering to a vertical position. Moving into a back float for 5 seconds, rolling to front then recovering to a vertical position. Pushing off and swimming using crawl stroke for 5 yards. Back float for 5 seconds, rolling to the front then float for 5 seconds and back-to-back and float for 5 seconds.

Dolphin - Jumping into deep water from the side. Swimming the front crawl for 25 yards. Maintaining position by treading or floating for 30 seconds. Swimming the elementary backstroke for 25 yards.

Swimmer - Swimming the front crawl for 25 yards. Swimming the elementary backstroke for 25 yards. Swimming the breaststroke for 15 yards. Swimming the back crawl for 25 yards. Open turns on the front and back.

Intermediate - Stroke refinement. Performing a shallow-angle dive into deep water. Swimming the front crawl for 50 yards. Swimming the elementary backstroke for 50 yards. Swimming the breaststroke for 25 yards. Swimming the back crawl for 50 yards.

Advanced - Swimming 500 yards continuously using any 3 strokes of choice, swimming at least 50 yards of each stroke. Demonstrating turns while swimming. Jumping into deep water and performing a survival float for 5 minutes. Rolling onto back and performing a back float for 5 minutes. Performing a surface dive, retrieving an object from the bottom of the pool at a depth of 7-10 feet, returning to the surface and returning to the starting point. Demonstrating etiquette in fitness swimming. Demonstrating various training techniques. Calculating target heart rate.

Semi-Private Lessons

Age: 5 & up

If you are looking for more individual attention for your child than is provided in group lessons, here is the ideal program. The class has a capacity of two students per instructor. Students must be 42" tall or of adequate skill level.

Private Lessons

Age: 5 & up

Individual lessons for adult or child with one-on-one stroke instruction. Skill level must be beginner or higher. Student must be 42” tall or of adequate skill level.

Adult Lessons

Age: 15 & up

Designed for non-swimmers and those who would like to perfect their swimming skills. Class geared to the individual's needs and abilities.

Pacifica Sea Lions - Pre Comp Program

Age: 5-17 years

This program is designed for individuals interested in trying competitive swimming. Participants must be able to swim ½ the length of 25-yard pool. This is a feeder program for the Pacifica Sea Lions Swim Team.
