The goal of the streets division is to keep Pacifica city streets as clean and hazard-free as possible. The street maintenance program includes sweeping all residential, major and commercial streets twice a month. This cleaning not only improves the city's appearance but keeps our community safe by removing the dirt, metals, petroleum products, garbage, and vegetation that regularly collect on our streets. Removing these materials is important because they could end up in our storm drains and eventually into our creeks and the Pacific Ocean. Keeping the storm drains clear not only helps to reduce pollution, but also reduces the likelihood of flooding during heavy rain.

Street sweeping is most effective when the sweepers have access to the curb. The machines are able to capture the most amount of trash and particulate matter.
