Virtually every program and service offered by the City depends upon support from the City Attorney’s office in its establishment, development and operation. Legal services are not provided directly to the public or to individual residents or businesses.

The City Attorney:

  • Advises and represents the City Council and City in all matters of law; represents and appears for the City and its officers in all civil actions and proceedings
  • Attends meetings of the City Council, Planning Commission and such other committees or commissions as required
  • Prepares all necessary legal documents such as contracts, deeds, ordinances and resolutions
  • Performs legal research and prepares opinions as required
