Ride Along Police CarThis exciting program, where citizens can actually spend time with officers during their working day, was started in 1969 by then Chief of Police, Neil Tremaine to foster police and community mutual respect. In the beginning, only one night a week was available. Today, any day or shift is available for adults, depending on demand and staffing.

Minors must have signed parental permission and may participate between 8:00am and 2:00am, although their parent/guardian may specify an earlier completion time.

A normal ride-along consists of up to 6 hours and will include a station tour as well as a ride-along with an officer on his or her beat. A citizen may request a specific officer, however this may be limited by assignment or the discretion of the watch commander.

If you are interested in going on a ride-along, download and print the below file or come into the station to request a ride-along form. Fill out the form and return it to the main service counter at the police station. You will then be contacted to set up the date and time of your ride-along.
