Who We Serve

Child Care Services is licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services to provide services to a limited number of children ages 2.9 through 14 years at preschool and elementary school sites. We serve children regardless of sex, race, color, religion, national origin, ethnic background, physical handicap, political beliefs, sexual orientation, and/or marital/family status.

The Staff

Each program site is staffed by a Site Coordinator, full-time teachers, and part-time staff. Ratios of at least one adult to every eight children (1:8) is maintained in the preschool program and at least one adult to every fourteen children (1:14) in the school-age program.

Affectionate and understanding guidance are the trademarks of staff members of Pacifica's Child Care. All staff believes that children away from home for long hours of the day need an extra share of warmth and care. The staff works as a team to provide this friendly, accepting, supportive and safe environment.

How We Are Funded

Child Care Services is funded through participant fees for service and subsidized child care grants from the State Department of Education with additional support from the City of Pacifica General Fund. Members of the Parent Advisory Committee and Pacificans Care also come up with some fun and interesting fundraisers.

History

In 1976, the City of Pacifica began providing subsidized Child Care for low-income families through a grant from the State Department of Education. In 1982, Child Care Services began admitting and serving full-cost children. The program has grown from one site with 47 children enrolled to its current six sites and an enrollment of over 300 children. Two sites are full-day preschool, three sites are part-day preschool and school-age, and one site is school-age only.

Hours of Operation

We are open from 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday, closing for City holidays and two staff training days per year. The school-age program interfaces with each school's schedule and is open on early dismissal days during the school term.

Child Care Services Program Sites

Fairmont West Preschool: A year-round full-day preschool program open from 7:00am-6:00pm.

Fairmont Park Preschool: A year-round full-day preschool program open from 7:00am-6:00pm.

Ocean Shore Site: A year-round, school-age program open from 7:00am-6:00pm for children in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Also, a part-day preschool program 9am-12pm is open during the school year only for children ages 2.9 and 5.

Sunset Ridge Site: A year-round, school-age program open from 7:00am-6:00pm for children in grades kindergarten through 5th grade. Also, a part-day state preschool program 9am-12pm is open during the school year only for children ages 2.9 and 5.

Vallemar Site: A year-round, school-age program open from 7:00am-6:00pm for children in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Also, a part-day state preschool program 9am-12pm is open during the school year only for children ages 2.9 and 5.

Cabrillo Site: A year-round, school- age program open from 7:00am-6:00pm for children in grades kindergarten- 8th grade.
