Leaders in Training Education Applicants (LITE)

Leaders In Training Education (L.I.T.E) Program is Returning to Adventure Camp 2024!
The Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department is looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, hard-working teens ages 13 through 17 for our Leaders in Training Education Program. 
LITEs will be trained by Recreation Staff.
They will spend the summer working with children at camps and out-of-town field trips. 
Members of the program will receive community service hours and some real-world working experience.

Volunteers can choose a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 3 weeks to volunteer at Adventure Camp, which will be held at Cabrillo Elementary School. Adventure Camp runs from 6/10/2024-8/2/2024.

Select Applicants must participate in a mandatory 1-Day training program (June 7th) and will be paired with experienced Recreation Leaders for at least a one-week period. There are eight possible weeks of the summer which LITEs can work, volunteering no more than 3 weeks throughout the summer. Participants will be evaluated at the end of each week.

The L.I.T.E program costs $26 per week. (to help cover training, shirt, and field trips) Payment is due when accepted into the program.
