Lower Linda Mar Sewer Rehabilitation and Repair Project

Improvements to the collection system in the Lower Linda Mar area were identified in the City’s Collection System Master Plan Update 2021. This project will include replacing existing sewer mains with new pipe and rehabilitating manholes to improve system reliability and reduce the risks of overflows as well as inflow and infiltration (I&I). I&I impacts the capacity of our sewer collection system and Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant to convey and treat wastewater. Residents will have the opportunity to replace their sewer laterals as part of the project. Design on the Lower Linda Mar Project began in the Summer of 2023 and is being bid out for construction through April 24, 2024. The construction contract is anticipated to be recommended to Council for approval in May of 2024. Construction work is anticipated to begin in the Summer of 2024. Plans and specifications for the project may be seen here:

Ultraviolet Disinfection System Replacement Project

Design for the Ultraviolet Disinfection Replacement Project is included the City’s approved FY 2022-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).  The Calera Creek Water Recycling Plant (CCWRP) was brought online in the Year 2000. At that time, CCWRP was a State-of-the-Art treatment facility, employing ultraviolet (UV) disinfection utilizing the Trojan UV4000 UV treatment system. Although less energy efficient than today’s UV technology, the existing UV treatment system has performed well for the City, with City Maintenance staff receiving reliable support from the vendor. Like other industries that require mechanical/electrical equipment, the municipal wastewater industry is constantly innovating and replacing aging technology with new offerings. Now, this is the case for the City’s existing UV treatment system whose model will no longer be supported. Design of the new UV system began in the fall of 2022 and was completed in the Spring of 2024. The project is currently out to bid for construction, with bids due May 9, 2024. The construction contract is anticipated to be recommended to Council for approval in May of 2024. Construction work is anticipated to begin in the Summer of 2024. Plans and specifications for the project may be seen here
